Do you sell bullions for investment purposes?
Yes. We offer gold, silver, and platinum bars and investment coins. Available formats vary depending on stock, ranging from 1 gram pieces to larger bars, as well as coins such as the Krugerrand, Maple Leaf, and American Eagle, among others.

What are the advantages of investing in physical gold?
Physical gold — whether bars or coins — is a tangible asset with no counterparty risk that has historically preserved value against inflation and local currency devaluations.
Unlike financial instruments, the metal is in your possession. At La Fontaine, we also offer a buyback service for the pieces we sell, based on the market reference price at the time of the transaction.
How is the price of gold determined in Uruguay?
The gold price is based on the international market quotation (London Bullion Market Association), expressed in U.S. dollars per troy ounce.
We use Kitco.com as a reference for international real-time pricing. In Uruguay, the value is converted according to the exchange rate of the day.
The final purchase or sale price of each piece also includes the purity of the metal and its weight.
Do you buy back the bars and coins you sell?
Yes. One of the advantages of purchasing from La Fontaine is that we offer a preferred buyback service for the precious metals we sell.
The buyback price is determined according to the international market quotation at the time of the transaction. Contact us in-store or via WhatsApp for current conditions.

Where are you located and what are your business hours?
We have two locations in Montevideo:
- Ciudad Vieja: Peatonal Sarandí 635, steps away from the Citadel Gate.
- Arocena: Arocena 1554.
Both locations are open Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 18:00 and Saturdays from 10:30 to 14:00. Complimentary parking is available for customers.
